2026, Danmarks Næste Klassiker
The fire at Børsen in 2024 will likely be the defining story of this iconic building for my generation.
The story of the fire holds both fragility and pain, but also strength. The fragility lies in the sudden loss of something so historic—something that has always been a guardian of Copenhagen. The strength is in the compassion, helpfulness, and sense of community that so many people demonstrated in its wake.
It’s a primal story of loss, destruction, and rebuilding. Of despair and hope. And of something that unites us as a nation. That’s why it was essential for me to tell this story through the design, using the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique—where wood is charred to strengthen the material.
